**FREE** Web of Science Update/ What’s New Training - June 2018.

Jisc Web of Science Service for UK Education Support are organising a series of ***FREE*** Web of Science Update/What’s New Training sessions at Academic HE institutions around the UK. The training will be provided by Clarivate Analytics (formerly the IP & Science business of Thomson Reuters).

Library/support staff with previous experience of the Web of Science are invited to attend one of these events in order to keep up to date with the recent service enhancements and future updates.

This course is intended for library/support staff with familiarisation of the Web of Science, from institutions who subscribe to the WoS Service for UK Education.

Analytical tools

  • New Analyse results and improvements to export
  • Citation Report- ‘soft bibliometrics’
  • DOI and WOS accession number added to 5K download ( for external analysis)
  • Correct use and meaning of the Impact Factor
  • JCR as the compete profile of journal activity (understand journals position in landscape/ explore readership)
  • Essential Science Indicators- emphasis on usefulness of Research Fronts and use of baselines

Identification tools

  • ResearcherID/ORCID search and display
  • Publons- overview
  • Organisation enhanced
  • DAIS improvement (groups of publications assigned to an author based on an algorithm)

Reference management tools: Endnote X9 what’s coming

  • Dynamic cited counts
  • Initiate Citation report from group of references from Endnote
