Regional Training Sessions - New Interface - ISI Web of Knowledge Service for UK Education

The new interface for the ISI Web of Knowledge Service for UK Education was fully introduced in February 2008. In order to support this Mimas, in conjunction with Thomson Scientific, are offering a series of free training sessions for library and support staff. *All class attendees at each course will be entered into a free draw for a chance to win an ipod shuffle.*

Programme

These workshops will:

  • feature an intensive exploration of the new interface including:
    – NEW product WebPlus
    – NEW product Researcher ID
    – Citation Report, including h-index
    – Cited Reference Searching
    – Author finder tool
  • provide the opportunity to participate in a structured hands-on session
  • provide the opportunity for an informal hands-on for any/all products –
    Thomson Scientific and MIMAS support staff will be on hand to assist

  • Tuesday 6 May 2008 1pm – 4pm. The University of Manchester.
  • Wednesday 7 May 2008 1pm – 4pm. University of Glasgow.
  • Thursday 8 May 2008 10.00am – 1pm. Queens' University Belfast (note Morning session).
  • Monday 12 May 2008 1pm – 4pm. The University of Manchester.
  • Tuesday 13 May 2008: University of Oxford, 1pm – 4pm
  • Wednesday 14 May 2008: King's College, 9.30am – 12.30pm (note London morning session)
  • Wednesday 14 May 2008: King's College, 1.30pm – 4.30pm (note London afternoon session)
  • Thursday 15 May 2008 1pm – 4pm. University of Birmingham.
  • Friday 16 May 2008: University of Newcastle, 1pm – 4pm

Who is this course for?

These courses are for library and support staff. Previous experience of ISI Web of Knowledge and Web of Science is advised.

Course materials and format

The workshops will combine a mixture of presentations and hands-on practical sessions; in addition there will be opportunities for attendees to ask questions.
