New ISI Web of Knowledge Trial from 1st October – 30th November 2004

29 September 2004

As part of the JISC renewal process, Thomson Scientific, JISC and MIMAS have arranged access for your organisation to the new and significantly enhanced version of ISI Web of Knowledge for a two-month trial: Oct 1st – Nov 30th 2004.

A self-explanatory link will appear on the MIMAS Web of Knowledge (WoK) home page ( on 1st October. It will give the user access to the new version of WoK, version 3, and will contain data, from 1975 for WoS plus Proceedings (Science & Technology).

Please note – An institution's additional subscriptions will not be reflected in this trial version and an Athens username and password will be required for authentication.

Renewal pricing will be issued by JISC for consultation during next week.

From April 2005, it is planned to offer parallel access to this new version alongside the current live service – but including an institution's additional subscriptions. This parallel running will continue until switch over on 30th September 2005. 'Train-the-trainer' sessions will again be run in early Summer 2005 throughout the UK, to provide sites with as much lead time as possible to revise local support materials.

Please note that the new version of WoK will run on servers hosted and maintained by Thomson Scientific. However, the WoK Helpdesk function at MIMAS will continue at the current level for the period of the new agreement.

Further announcements will follow in due course. Should you have any questions or feedback, we would be delighted to hear from you.
