29 August 2003

MIMAS remind subscribing institutions of the imminent move to ISI Web of Knowledge Service for UK Education. From Monday 1st September, all users will be directed to

This includes the new version of ISI Web of Science and Proceedings, both with set searching support and a variety of additional facilities.

WoK also includes Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and Derwent Innovations Index (DII) for subscribing institutions. However, Current Contents Connect (CCC) and ISI Chemistry have not been included within WoK at this stage and will remain accessible via a separate link listed on the WoK home page. CCC/Chemistry subscribing sites will receive more detailed communications directly.

Institutional settings for Holdings and SFX (free to institutions with suitable systems) and the Links (additional subscription required) are additionally now available.

Information on the publishers and titles available for Full Text links to subscribers of the Links service can be found on the WoK Links Service page. There are also some free titles listed here, these have been enabled for all institutions.

CrossSearch Facilty

The CrossSearch – Form facility has been enabled for all institutions, providing cross-searching of ISI products using the familiar WoS operands. For further information on using the CrossSearch function, please consult the online help files or contact the WoK helpdesk. As this is an optional feature, please inform the WoK Helpdesk if you *do not wish* CrossSearch to be enabled for your institution – we wish to support an institution's preference.

External products can be added for cross-searching these include Agricola, PubMed and ISI's eSearch, which ISI are making available free to existing WoS subscribers.

Unfortunately, it has not been possible to implement and performance test CrossSearch – Concept in time for Autumn term. It is now planned to introduce this for Spring term 2004, subject to satisfactory performance trials.
