MIMAS announce Athens Single Sign On for ISI WoS Service

22 February 2002

ISI Web of Science Service for UK Education is happy to announce that following the successful testing of the Athens Single Sign On facility, we will be introducing this for the ISI Web of Science service and its related products during March 2002.

With the Athens Single Sign On (AthensSSO) services, the user will NOT be prompted for their Athens username/password when they access a second AthensSSO-authenticated service in the same browser session.

Please have a try via the temporary web page: http://wos.mimas.ac.uk/ssologin.html. Note, this page will be deleted once AthensSSO has been implemented.

A notice "Athens Single Sign On is here!", which was posted to ATHENS@JISCMAIL.AC.UK on 12/02/02 gives a good description of AthensSSO and the benefits of its application. You can read this email at the following URL: http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/cgi-bin/wa.exe?A2=ind0202&L=athens&O=D&F=&S=&P=533

Put simply, the aim is to minimise the number of authentication challenges presented to our users. Other Athens-authenticated services will follow-suit during 2002.
